Information (Frequently Asked Questions)
1) How old are the kittens when they are ready to go home?
A. Kittens will be ready to go to their new homes around 12 to 14 weeks of age. Always at breeders discretion. Don't worry, they are still little kittens at this age :)
2) What comes with the kitten?
A. Kittens will come having had their first two to three kitten vaccinations depending on their age and you will receive a folder containing health papers, a care sheet and a written One Year health warranty. Kittens will not be spayed or neutered as we beleive in waiting until the kitten settles into their new home and is about 5-6 months old before doing that surgery. especially females. I know many people like to spay/neuter very young kittens but this is my opinion on the matter. I guess I am old school but I feel this is best for my kittens and my vet agrees. we do require you to sign a contract stating you will have your kitten spayed/neutered and we do check to make sure this is done.
3) Can we declaw our Devon?
A. We highly discouraged. this procedure and really prefer not to place kittens in homes that plan to declaw. Declawing a cat is equivalent to taking off the tips of your fingers just below the first knuckle. Clipping their nails regularly and giving them a scratching post goes a long way to prevent any accidental damage to furniture. Some people may have a problem with this but we use a spray bottle of water on stream to train our cats not to claw the furniture, a little squirt goes a long way, it is very effective and is much better than lopping off their toes.
4) Do you health test your cats?
A. All of our breeding cats have tested free of detectable feline diseases and routinely test free of internal and external parasites. The health of our cats comes first in our breeding program.
5) Can I put a deposit down or be on a waiting list?
A. We require a $100.00 deposit to be on the list to choose a kitten when they are available. This will also hold the kitten until pick up after you have chosen one, this deposits will be deducted from the total price of the kitten and is non refundable for any reason. The price of kittens may be subject to change even if you are on the wait list as the deposit is only to be on the list not for any one kitten. When you choose a specific kitten, the price will be locked in at that time.
6) How do I choose a kitten?
A. See the previous question about a deposit. we usually only have kittens available through our list but if by chance we should Photos and videos of them will be posted on the "available kittens" page on this site, or on our Facebook page (Autumn Rain Cattery).
At this time we are not offering visits to our home to choose kittens. Some Devons will never have much hair on the top of thier heads :)

A. Devons are extremely easy to groom. bathe at least every three to four months or as needed but not too often or you will dry out the coat. no need to brush or comb a Devon as you may break or pull out hair.
The difference between the Cornish and the Devon Rex
One of the most frequently asked questions is what is the difference between the Cornish and Devon Rex cats? The two breeds are different in several ways.
The Cornish Rex first appeared in 1950s England, as an unusual kitten(mutation). Cornish Rex cats are known for having large ears set on top of small, angular heads with Roman noses. They have long legs and narrow waists, their body type often compared to that of a greyhound dog’s. The Cornish rex has a softer, wavier coat than the Devon and a more exotic/oriental look . Also from England, Devon Rex cats have large ears like the Cornish but the Devons ears are shaped different and sit lower and to the sides of the head. The Devons head is also different, being shorter and wider with pronounced whisker pads and a break in the nose. Devon Rex, have sturdier, shorter legs and a somewhat pot bellied appearance, both breeds are petit in stature with the average being between six and nine pounds. The Devon rex is also known for its short, curly coat. The Cornish and Devon are known for being extremely low shedding cats and many people with cat allergies or asthma have had great success in owning both breeds with little to no reaction. Both breeds have loving curious personalities, If you want a cat that will lay on the couch all day this is not the breed for you, they are talkative and inquisitive and crave human companionship the majority of the time.
